Shea Theodore - Breakout?

Theodore has 31 points in his last 37 games.

He had a slow start to the season, but I assume that had something to do with battling testicular cancer in the off season.

Do you think his pace over the past 30 games is sustainable? What is your outlook on him for the next few seasons?

He actually jumped out of the gates with 5 pts in his first 6 gp and then went cold for a while. I think at his peak he could be in the 60ish range but i'd say going forward 50's is a safe bet.

Defenceman are so frustrating though, look at proven 50/60 point guys like Subban, Gostisbehere, Klingberg, Barrie, M. Reilly, Karlsson, Gustafsson (ok small sample size). They are all under 30 or they slipped before 30.

He could slump next year, he could take off with 70 points, but it is unlikely that he will be a proven steady 60 point guy every year going forward.

I had high hopes for him this year and was patient while he struggled and am glad I held on. I see him being a 50 point Dman going forward; can't see him getting much more the way Vegas plays/deploys it's players.

I've been primed for a couple of years for a Theodore break out but I'm becoming skeptical it'll be as big as I predicted a couple of years ago. 50 range seems reasonable at this point.

I don't think we're talking Burns and EK in their prime kind of numbers with Theodore. I think a 55 point median with a +/- 5 points or so in any given year is what you have. There's nothing wrong with that.
