nice move here by Sweeney, Kase will fit in fine with Krejci. Kase also has term left and will be a RFA after next season. Dumping Backes contract is the cherry on top. Thank you Ducks!

Were all entitled to our opinions but I feel very differently.
hes got a non-stop motor- hes fast- these are things that mesh well with the Bruins identity. Not a guy that takes shifts off- hes hard-working, scrappy, and capable of finesse goals as well as garbage goals. A lot like a few Bs players- Marchand- Krejci to some extent.
Lastly- and i was NOT aware of this- i guess he played the national circuit with Pasta when they were coming up together. That feels like a key part of this deal for me...
I see this as a 1st rounder and Backes for cap space then the prospect for Kase.
With Anaheim with alot of LTIR cap space i dont think this affects their cap space very much and they have a centre for another year that can probably still play
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.
Dangit, of course a good team like BOS would steal Kase.
Would've really liked to see him in Philly, his brother is doing okay in the minors.
I think this is a nice deal for Boston, because I'm not sure I have any faith in Anaheim's management.

I kind of like this deal for Anaheim as well.
They get the pick and get another kick at the prospect can which they can certainly use.
Kase just cannot stay healthy. He has NEVER played a full season with a career high of 66gp. Bandaid boy for sure.
The Ducks are clearly a team in transition with a massive cap hit on Perry coming up next season plus some other significant salaries in Kesler and Gubradson.
Bringing in Backes adds more veteran leadership and I don't believe he is finished in the NHL.
Perhaps this frees them up to try and move Henrique now as well.
So in my humble view this is hardly a slam dunk win for Boston.
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.
Dubas did what he had to do to get rid of Lou’s bad signing. The only mistake Dubas made was that he didn’t target a clueless Jim Benning.
As for the Kase trade, it’s a big win for Boston obviously. Get out of the Backes deal, addresses their need for a scoring winger and it only cost them a late 1st + a lower end D prospect. Excellent trade by Sweeney who has made some very good moves for Boston since taking over. I remember everyone laughing at his back-to-back-to-back draft selections where he pretty much whiffed on all three and made a horrible signing in Backes, but aside from that he has been great.
