It's really funny for those who have no clue about Howe, see that plateau, and then go, "I thought he had 801? " and then the line take off again and ends past 50.

Who cares about the empty netters? He's going to pass Wayne's record by a decent margin anyway. Also regardless of Howe playing those WHA games he still has played 1767 games in the NHL which will in likelihood be more than Ovi plays.

1767 is good for 2nd highest all time. To think he could of added another 6 seasons is so beastly.

True durability is such an underrated attribute I believe. It would be awesome if Ovi goes Jagar and tries to play as long as possible. He could clip 1000 goals.

Is everyone over Matthews already? There was a subset on these boards after last year claiming Matthews is the greatest goal scorer of all time. If you look through active players it's amazing that there is only two that are within striking distance of reaching even 600 goals. Crosby at 536 goals, could accomplish it next year. Stamkos at 497, who needs another 103 goals. I say both get it done but Stamkos isn't guaranteed.

Here's who I think can make the 600 goals career mark. Which is top 20 of all time.

We’ll just start counting all their AHL ECHL league stats too. Played pro in Europe? Count that too. No. The best league in the world is and always has been the NHL. Take your WHA stats and shove ‘em. If Gretz had been worried about cementing his legacy he’s have gone to the NHL. He didn’t care about that which is all good. Absolutely, if he played Germany and Austria every other day. Listen, I think he’s going to be a very good player and possibly a superstar, but let’s temper expectations and not sound like James Duthie. I totally disagree with Bedard being the one who breaks the goal record. Not just any record, the NHL record which is the only league that matters.

Well...rataylor was being sarcastic, but I will be watching Bedard's career to see how he does in the goal totals. He is such an impressive shooter.
