Finally!
Hopefully this helps him regain his confidence and find his game. He's been scratched 3 of the past 4 games so after 114 NHL games Mitts looks to make his AHL debut Wednesday against Cory Schneider and the Binghamton Devils. I don't think this will hurt his development and wonder why it took this long.

We have assigned forward Casey Mittelstadt to @AmerksHockey.

Yep just wish it didn't take this long. But definitely glad they bit the bullet.
Just goes to show you prospects are a crap shoot. I remember the consensus 3 years ago was that Mitelstadt was the 3rd best player for fantasy after Hischier and Patrick. Pettersson, Makar and Heiskenen were all rated below him.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.
The kid is so good but time in the A never hurts. I think this is going to be very good for him and honestly, it's a long time coming. Shouldn't have been rushed.

Took seven games longer than I would've liked but Casey finally scored a dang goal
Unassisted shorty at that

He had 6 shots that game as well, hopefully he's finding his footing
He was rushed and suffered with Buffalo's lack of depth up front. He would have been so much better off if O'Reilly was still there.
Now we just have to be patient.

Goal #2 yesterday. Let's keep this train chuggin'!
3rd goal yesterday, makes 3 straight games scoring. Choo-choo!
Not surprised to see him start slow before picking things up. It had to hurt being sent down but now that he is settled in, it's time to turn it up and go nuts on this league.
Streak broken but scored his 4th in 5 last night staying in the play and grabbing his own rebound.
Sabres assistant GM/Amerks GM Randy Sexton spoke positvely of Casey's play as of late
My rule of thumb with rookies is you set realistic expectations and you put the player in a role he can play. Doesn't really matter where in the lineup. If he can't play the role then either scale back or send him to the minors. Last year would have been the right time to pull this off, when he was playing L3/4 with subpar wingers and not contributing. The issue is Buffalo is pressing to get out of their non-playoff drought and putting a plug with no upside in Mittelstadt's spot won't move the team forward. I'm glad they had enough spine to do the right thing this year.

Another goal last night after 2 dry games as well as a beauty pass to a pinching Pilut in overtime. 7 shots on goal in the game as well helping Rochester break a 7 game losing streak.
