Default What's Up With Timo Meier & Jonathan Toews

So I have both players on my 12-team yahoo roto team in a very active league that does not entertain trades very often. Meier has been bumped of the Sharks PP1 and has not been producing while getting avg. ice time per game of 18+minutes.

Towes on the other hand is performing like everyone on on Chicago not named Kane despite getting ice time of 20 mins per game and PP1 deployment...he's averaging less than 2 SOG per game.

Both clearly have the talent along with other skill players to turn their production around, but I must admit I've started weighing other FA options, even short term ones like JT Compher who just got bumped up to Colorado top line plus PP1. The league I'm is super competitive and I've previously learned that it is very hard to dig out of a hole created from holding on to player who has turned into a fantasy dud.

Is it too early to bale? I mean Meier has only 10 games to his name and Towes has 8.

And I'm not baling on Radulov since I'm a die hard Stars fan!

I have both in various leagues. I haven't dived too deep into it, but Chicago is having some chemistry problems so Toews isn't the only guy not performing.

Meier - he is a good 5 on 5 producer and pp1 hasn't really been essential for him so I wouldn't be worried about that. He's still firing pucks at a decent clip so things should turn around there too. All of his 4 points have come in the last 6 games.

I feel like a lot of top players are off to weird starts this year. Look around the league and there seems to be a star in a slump everywhere you look.

When in doubt, check out Dobber tools!
This year we find out if he’s for real. First half last season he was a point per game. Second have he dropped to 0.75 per game.
His power play time has gone up (though that average may drop now that he’s not pp1) but last year it wasn’t his catalyst. This year it was his hope (our hope?) for his growth. So I still am trusting the puts up 60 pts, and if he gets hot maybe he moves back to PP1 and takes off. Either way I’m holding for a lot longer. His peripherals are good enough compared to my waiver wire.
Oh, and his shooting percentage is just above 3% and he’s a lifetime shooter just below 10. Just wait for that to correct itself and get your happy dance ready.

That is a heck of alot of slow starts in your signature. On the bright side, a correction should come.
