Likely not playing 40+ this year.
Over his career, his numbers have been quite good except for two years:
2.36 .925
2.69 .913
2.28 .927
3.26 .860
2.68 .912
2.30 .915
2.53 .915
2.29 .920
2.59 .908
3.82 .892
The two groupings reflect when he has played more than 40 games. The first group is 40+, the second group is less than 40.
Other than his 2 worst years, his numbers have been pretty consistent and pretty good.
Is he playing more than 40 games this year?
In a 10 league where we start 3C, 3LW, 3RW, 4D and 2 G daily. It is a H2H league - we keep 3 players (1 G max), are allowed a max of 2 keeps for each player. The number in brackets is the number of keeps I have left:
G, A, +/-, PIMs, PPG, PPA and Shots.
C - Larkin, Couturier, Kopitar, Cirelli
LW - OV, Panarin (1), Schenn (C), Ehlers (RW), Kreider
RW - Kucherov (0), Seguin (C), Palmieri, Voracek, Yamamoto
D - Yandle, DeAngelo
W, GAA, SV% and Saves.
G - Rask, Varlamov, Hart, Mrazek
IR+ - Tarasenko

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
Probably not slated for 40+ but with Varly's injury history there is a chance.
He is an awesome goalie. Now if he was ever put into a situation where he had to start most of the games I don't know if I would say the same thing. He did play 51 games one year and did pretty good though. I think he gets into 30 to 35 games this season.
I think 40 is about the right number. Varlamov is NOT durable, plus Greiss was good in almost straight split last year, so if you made me pick over or under, I'd go over, but only think it would be low-mid 40's.
One other thing: that .860 is a 2 start callup season as a 22 year old when he clearly wasn't ready. Not back in the NHL until 24.

I agree with 40 being realistic. It's likely that a 60 - 40 split with Varly is likely and like others have mentioned, Varly is far from durable. So anticipating a 50 - 50 split is not unreasonable.
