Chabot vs Hamilton
I was offered Chabot and his 8th round pick next year for Hamilton and my 1st round.
I’ve been high on Chabot but this seems like a little too much to give up with the pick?

With that high of pick given up it's a no from me. In ADP Hamilton was taken a whole round earlier than Chabot. Given that most leagues count hits but yours doesn't Hamiltons value decreases slightly. But he will have higher PIMS and probably 50-100 more shots than Chabot. Given that Chabot is more offensively gifted, I would say a more fair trade is if you were giving up a 3rd or 4th given future production from Chabot.

I agree. 1st round (even with 8 keepers) is too much. And as above, Hamilton is no slouch.

Update: the other GM now offered a straight swap - Hamilton for Chabot.
I’m torn on this. I like Chabot, but it’s hard not to love Hamilton’s situation as the #1 guy on a good Carolina team compared to Chabot on a weak Ottawa team.
I don’t know which guy is the better option

Let the trade sit there until you like it. You don't have to pull the trigger if you don't like it at the moment. You have to think about why he is offering this. He obviously sees an upside to Dougie over Chabot. Sit and wait.

Too much with the 1st round pick. It needs to be closer in the pick like maybe a 3rd/4th round pick and the other owners pick I think you said 8th or 9th to get it done.

Straight up, it's definitely tough. It's telling that he went from a 1st in addition to a straight up deal.
I'd take this as an opportunity to look at his roster and counter by adding two other comparable pieces where you feel you're getting a win overall.
I would've opted for Chabot prior to the season, but Hamilton is in a good situation early, and the Sens don't look like they'll score a lot....
