^Yeah, I've read that keeping Liljegren is a "paper move", because they need to reduce their cap to an effective $81.48m (something like that) by having him with the current group while they register their LTIRs.
But after that, I've read that Liljegren will go down, and a forward will be brought up (prob at $700k, lower than Lilje's $841 or whatever).

Pittsburgh's current 23-man roster includes 13 forwards (Zach Aston-Reese, Nick Bjugstad, Teddy Blueger, Sidney Crosby, Alex Galchenyuk, Jake Guentzel, Patric Hornqvist, Dominik Kahun, Evgeni Malkin, Jared McCann, Bryan Rust, Dominik Simon and Brandon Tanev), eight defensemen (Brian Dumoulin, Erik Gudbranson, Jack Johnson, Kris Letang, Marcus Pettersson, Juuso Riikola, Chad Ruhwedel and Justin Schultz) and two goaltenders (Tristan Jarry and Matt Murray). Twenty of the 23 players skated for the Penguins last year. They are joined by newcomers Alex Galchenyuk (trade with Arizona), Dominik Kahun (trade with Chicago) and Brandon Tanev (free agency). Attached is the 23-man roster.

Defenseman John Marino and goaltender Casey DeSmith have been re-assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

Zach Trotman has been placed on long-term injured reserve following sports hernia surgery last week.
Bryan Rust will be also placed on long-term injured reserve after the 23-man roster is submitted.


Not mentioned is that the Pens will actually only be at 12F after Rust goes to LTIR.
Wonder if they'll call somebody back up.
