I have the 10th overall pick... is grabbing Vasilevskiy too early here? He's going at the end of the 1st in most of my mock drafts, and 1/3rd of our scoring is goalie categories.

    First, welcome to the forums!

Second, I don't think it's a reach. How many goalies do you start? If two or more, then Vas is fine going at #10. If only one, then I would definitely wait longer for a goalie.

I wouldn't grab him this early. I would be happy with him or Bobrovsky. So if you can get Bob in the 2nd or 3rd I am not reaching for Vaz in the first. After that if both are gone then I wait awhile before drafting a goalie because there are plenty bunched together IMO after those two.

I say it's fine, but Vas and only Vas. If he goes before you pick, don't reach for a goalie there.

I am not sure when too early is but I know rounds 13 and 14 are too late. Thank you again Auto-Draft!

It's certainly a point of major debate and in a 14 team league there is going to be a shortage of starting goalies.

That being said in head-to-head I prefer to draft premium skaters early and take my chances on middle of the road goalies because goalies fluctuate much more season to season and even week to week. I personally would prefer a top end skater at 10, if Vas fell to you in the 2nd round then I'd take him. Otherwise I'd be eyeing a goalies in the 4th-6th round range, depending on when goalies start to really fall off the board.

TBH, waiting to the late 2nd Round or 3rd round and getting Holtby would be the way I would go. This way you get 2 great players possibly a great D and F and than grab a great Goalie in Holtby in the 3rd Round.
