Any guesses on who gets the backup spot to Holtby?
Sounds Like Washington is up against the cap and Samsonov is the pricier of the 2 so he may be sent down.
Also seems like Samsonov has the label of "goalie of the future" on him.
Any thoughts/guesses on what management does.
I think Holtby's contract is ending soon ( could be wrong on that).
Any chance they try to move him for cap space?

All great questions here. Most likely this year we see Holtby and Copley as one and two and samsanov is the minors. I expect he will get call ups for injuries and just a few games here and there (if no waivers required not sure on that one).
Samsanov is actually cheaper by 200k but yes goalie of the future for now so will be given more time in minors to play.
As for cap yes Holtby and Backstrom up for new contracts next season. All up in the air what they do with them

Wher Holtby ends up next year depends heavily on his health & play this year, and the play of the entire Capitals team. If he's not there, there's likely a fight for the starting job in camp
