Need help with keepers.. Tired of finishing 2nd,3rd,4th…

Good day,

Looking for some advise on my keepers (league details in signature). I have finished 2^nd or third for the past 3-4 years now and am ready to blow it up and start fresh. Will not be keeping Benn who was the "power forward" I’ve always loved to have on my team. We keep 5 skaters and 1 goalie (Gibson).

I traded a 1^st round pick last year for Tarasenko so feel like I have to keep him by default (maybe not??). Rantanen, Aho and Dahlin are also ones I think I should keep. So that leaves one spot for either:

Malkin – Should be a no brainer but if I want to start fresh??? Guess could keep and use as trade bait the next year..
Zibanejad – Young and on up and coming team, love his hits and and PPP
Meier – May be leaning this way, especially if he gets more PP time ***
Gustafsson – Possible but don’t think I want to take that chance
Benn – I could but his been on my team for like 7 years now, ready to move on
Lindholm – my sleeper for the past 3 years finally broke out, not sure about chancing him on having a repeat
Tkachuk – Really would love to do this, but think I may be able to snag him earlier in the draft. I always have a “thing” for guys that can get hits, pims and over 50 points. The plus/minus would probably be brutal. My ideal replacement for Benn

Feel free to give me input if you think my thinking is out of whack. Trying to get younger but also don’t think I’ll have a draft like I did last year. I asked advise last year as I almost didn't keep Rantanen, glad I listened to the forum!!!

Anyway, thoughts????

My picks would be Rantanen, Aho, Meier, Dahlin and McAvoy (Geno's age/injury risk).

I think go with the youth but Geno is almost too good to pass on when healthy. I would take into account how you acquired Tara. Keep the best 5

If you mean, “ready to blow it up,” then trade Geno for 1st rounder PLUS. Rantanen, Aho, Meier, Dahlin - these will be keepers for next 3 years at least — will Tarasenko?? Maybe was a good trade last year going for 1st place, but now?? Drop him.

That's awesome, thanks for the replies. Think I'm going with the replacing of Tara with Meier and sticking with Gino. He always comes back with a vengeance and should be able to use him as trade bait near the end. If I new McAvoy would get me more then 5 PPP I could be swayed but until Krug gets moved, it's a no go (pretty sure I could grab him in my draft, me being a bruins fan deosn't help either). Anyway, appreciate everyone's input!!!!

If you want to win instead of coming in 2nd through 5th, punt this season. I'm dead serious.

Spend the next calendar year amassing extra picks in the first five rounds of your league's draft for the 2020/2021 season. In a twelve team league where only 72 players are kept and 200+ are rostered (I'm assuming you have a bench that you haven't mentioned in your sig?), additional early draft picks are going to have a much bigger effect on your results than selecting the right keepers.
