Question Worth This Trade to Go From Krug (or Tarasenko) to Rielly? REP Given!

For team in my sig, I’ve just been offered Rielly for a late second rounder. Sounds good, but draft capital is gold in our league. I’ve got plenty of high picks now, but am still considering this. Also, someone just left Klingberg unprotected and that means I can probably trade for him fairly cheap. What are your thoughts? Stand pat with all my high picks, or try to upgrade that final keeper spot with one of the guys mentioned?

In a limited keeper you want to go for the elite options. I would grab Rielly since it only costs you your 5th or 6th highest pick.

I would not go from either of those guys to Rielly. Rielly is due for regression from last year (both because his shooting % was unsustainably high last year and Barrie will eat into some of his production). Krug is in a contract year and has been inching closer to a PPG pace, as a defenseman, over the past 3 seasons (53 pts in 64 games last year). I'm also seeing RW as the most shallow position this year, so Tarasenko holds a lot of value. I think either of those guys would be a lateral move for Rielly this year, and that means it's not worth giving up one of them and a draft pick, to acquire Rielly.

I also wouldn't move a pick for Kingberg if it means that you have to drop one of current keepers (I'm assuming you're in a keep 6).

I'd probably stick with what you have, since I just don't see it as a huge upgrade. If you are going to burn your high picks I'd want a bigger upgrade.

Thanks for the help guys! I was able to talk him down to my last in the third round pick (36th overall) and talk up the pick coming back to me to be at the top of the 7th. That little of a pick downgrade made me pull the trigger. REP left!
