I'm very mixed about Ward. He had some strong prime years yet everything before/after that was below-average. I'd say the Hurricanes were too loyal to him and it contributed to extending their non-playoff streak. It's still impressive to finish 23rd all-time in wins.

He is major proof that a mediocre goalie can get hot and carry a team in the playoffs, and also get really hot and have a random great season thrown in career.
I expected that he wouldn't get another contract, so feels good to have called that one right. He was getting jobs the last few years for no good reason.

Remember the 06 playoffs like it was yesterday. Sad it kind of went downhill from there but I guess it's hard not to.
