    Default Hischier or Keller

In a keeper points only league, I need to choose between Hischier and Keller.

I want to win this year, so I want the best point producer for this year.

    Thks everyone

Who do you like more between Keller and forsberg going forward, goals weighted higher vs assists; but no peripherals (ie: shots, hits, pims etc)?

In the future I would say Keller... but for now I think they are equal because Hischier will have a better support but Keller better ice-time

It would be nice to see the league weighting structure to confirm my instinct re: goals vs assists.

On the surface we have Forsberg and we know pretty much exactly what he is. He just turned 25 years old and has 395 NHL regular season games under his belt.

He's never scored more than 64 points in a season and has had some injury concerns for the past two seasons missing an average of 16 games. He may have his best season ahead of him but I'm not expecting more than a 35g/35a season at this stage until he proves he can go higher. And who knows when or if that season will even come. The chance of him going PPG at this stage isn't impossible but it's not exactly probable either.

Now Clayton Keller scored 65 points as a rookie which is more than Forsberg has ever scored. We saw a setback last year with his 47 point showing. He has played all 82 games in both seasons.

He likely won't score more goals than Forsberg but I think he will outpoint Forsberg in most seasons. Keller will be better this year and so will his supporting cast. Forsberg should stay about the same.

I like Keller for the upside but Forsberg is the safer 30ish goal play. So it does depend a bit on how your team looks this year and the goal vs assist weighting. In most keeper points only leagues I'd rather Keller.

Thanks man, I actually posted some of the league settings in a separate thread. But just to save you time, goals 3, assists 2, ppg 1, ppa 0.5, short handed goals 2, short handed assists 1, shootout goals 1, etc. My planned keepers are Barkov, Boeser, Draisaitl and Keller, with hart as my rookie carry over. I think solid all around, but the top teams from last year all look strong again, and I’m sure some teams from lower will jump up some. I have picks 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6. The trade I was looking at originally was keller/4 for Forsberg/6, but seems the other gm wants keller/a 3. I’ll be in good shape even if I lose the pick, but is keller for 2 years better, or Forsberg for 3? Forsberg’s current contract is 3, so i’d Just keep it the same as 4 is draisaitl. Barkov is my 3, but since i’d Be getting a guy in trade can basically leave contract or too up, so if left Forsberg will have same contract as Barkov.

This year, I'll say Keller but long term it gets closer for me.

I can see Hischier being as good as Keller as he develops.

I'd say they're quite close to equal. I may even lean Hischier. I'll say if positions don't matter, go with Hischier. If they do, go with Keller.

I like both for a breakout but I would take my chances with Keller.

You should not have to add to Keller to get forsberg- that GM is a sheister. I might be in the minority saying that Forsberg does actually still have "breakout" potential but with Keller that's a certainty. As said above Keller's first year was more than FD has ever gotten. Keller finally hs some linemates and a halfway legit pp. Keep Keller and more importantly be cautious when dealing with this gm in the future. That's the kind of trade where as early as this year he's got the better producing asset and it cost you a 3 round drop for the downgrade- lol!

And Keller over hischier easily with that goal scoring bias...

I'm a bit surprised I'm in the minority here, but I see more upside with Hischier. His own talent may be not higher than Keller's or not much, but if you take into consideration that Hischier has Hall, Subban, maybe Hughes (at least on the PP) as well as Gusev and Palmieri to play with while Keller, has Ekmann-Larsson, Kessel along with Jimmy Stonehands and Johnny Ironfoot, the choice is pretty clear to me...
