Interesting, same cap hit as Talbot (but 1 year versus 2). Still a very unclear crease in Calgary, longer-term. I wonder if this bumps Talbot's value a little....

I think Rittich has the net to start the season but as a 1a. Talbot could very well end up as the starter if things go his way.

I think I might talk myself into being interested in Talbot as a 1B option.

This is interesting and as a Rittich owner it's really made nothing any clearer for me. His season last year could be divided perfectly in half; first half amazing, second half distinctly mediocre. I don't know which one is the real him, and by the looks of this contract neither do Calgary. Confusing crease here.

I like it. 2 years to see what he's really like. Not a bad AAV either. I'm still not completely sold on him but I do have some hope that he is a very capable goalie who can play significantly more games this year. Still miss Kipper, though. We haven't had anyone close to him since he retired.
Points only keeper. 12 Teams. No pos requirements. 18 skaters / 3 goalies (2 count for points.) G/A = 1 point each (includes goalies) Goalies = 1.5 for W / 4.5 for SO. Minors - 4 year protection. Prospects added during their draft year only. Undrafted = waivers.

I only see up-side with Rittich’s deal. Makes him very aware that he’s playing to prove himself.

Rittich is obviously in a good situation with Calgary. They've got a deep, strong defense corps and a very good group of forwards throughout the lineup. But I'm not sure he's got a very secure hold on the #1 gig yet. He ceded the role to Mike Smith for the playoffs, which was incredibly stupid imo but still ... yikes. The organization brought in Talbot, who's had some success when playing on good teams before -- and also that one year with Edmonton. He could surprise some people, and end up making this close to a 50-50 type split in the end.

It's hard to evaluate the goalies in Stockton based on last year's numbers. Every goalie on that team put up puke numbers largely due to team quality, but even Gillies had two really good AHL seasons prior to 2018-19 and he's only 25 years old. I'm not sure I'm completely ready to give up on him yet having some kind of NHL role. So, Rittich is trying to establish himself in this scenario where he's probably the best option right now, but he's still sort of trying to prove he's the solution long-term.
