Just trying to see what others think who would have the better career strictly for points. Also who has the higher ceiling

For this year I'll take Makar it gets alot closer once Hughes can get some experience in though because there isn't much stopping him from seizing control of all the top minutes. Definitely Makar in the short term though, he's already got some experience, a preview of what he can do, and he's got a better team in front of him. Ceiling? That's hard to read from here, if you made me guess I'd say 65 is a safe number with some room for some standout season that go a little higher.

Get a coin and hope it's right. It probably knows the answer as well as anyone here.

Gun to my head, I'll say Hughes, but I dont have a great reason other than there isnt much for competition in Vancouver compared to Colorado.

Gun to my head - Makar. I like what Colorado has more than what Vancouver has.

Makar has the better linemates in front of him. Both are very skilled young d-men. Give me Makar. Hughes is no slouch though. One of the top young d-men in the game.

This is a toughie but I'd choose Makar. Both will be legit 60-65 pointers in their prime IMHO.

I feel like most people are probably going to go with Makar, but I like Hughes. I think there are more potential impediments to the prime minutes with Girard and potentially Byram down the road, whereas Hughes basically has the keys to the kingdom long-term with Pettersson, Boeser, etc.

This is pretty much why I went with Hughes as well but damn it's close.

Makar for me. No guns or coins involved.

Both are great players, though. Would love to have either on my team.

I really like both but I would go with Makar. Getting a piece of MacKinnon and Ranty on that power play is the tiebreaker for me. There is a lot more competition in Colorado on D, I just think Makar comes out on top in that group.

Yup coin flip. I remember reading a tweet stating that GM in the league said Makar would win the Norris in 5 years or less. Big praise. I do wonder if Makar will take on some defensive responsibilities like a Doughty or Piets and this may limit his point totals. I see Hughes as an elite point producer with fewer defensive responsibilities, perhaps due to his size, similar to Karlsson. 3 on 3 with BB and Peter. will be deadly. I like Makar more, but my guts says Hughes.

I think this is probably the most practical strategy here, given the replies and general sentiment surrounding these two players.
