I would like to keep one between those players.
He needs to play next season and I’d like to keep this player for seasons to come.
How would you rank those D?

    Niku
    Hronek
    Mete
    Jokiharju
    Brannstrom
    Bouchard
    Dobson
    Fabbro
10 teams lifetime pool / salary cap 94,5M / points only
    12 F - 6 D - 2 G - 2 bench
    no positional starts

    Protect each year 6F - 3D - 1G

    Keepers :
    Panarin 11,64M - Giroux 8,25M - Laine - Zibanejad 5,35M - Hertl 5,625M - Labanc 1M
    Hedman 7,875 - Nurse 3,2M - Makar 880k

If you're only looking for guys who are definitely going to play significant minutes in 2019-20, then that limits your options quite a bit. The only guys from that list I'm confident will play legit minutes this upcoming season are: Hronek, Fabbro, Niku, and Mete. Everyone else has some question marks, or are just longer-term options.

Of the four I've listed, I'm most interested in Hronek's production next season. He's realistically the only guy on this list who could be QB on a PP1 unit by season's end. Fabbro and Niku are the next most intriguing options, mostly because we aren't sure exactly how they'll be used but all indications are that they will both get looks in the top-four. I'm not sure this group of defensemen are your absolute best bets for long-term production, but among the guys who will play legit minutes next season, Hronek is my preferred choice.

Tricky question. Only 30D are kept in your pool. I agree Hronek is the best bet for next year, but there's no way he's in my top 30D this year and it's very unlikely he's there next year either. If this year is most important, I think you go with him - just don't be in the mindset that he's a slam dunk keeper moving forward. If you are willing to sacrifice a year, I suspect you'll get wildly different answers.

For this year only , Hronek is the clear choice IMO but he’s not the one with the more upside from this group.

Pure upside choice, I would go with one of Bouchard or Brannstrom for the best mix of potential and likely ETA. Boqvist and Byram also really intrigue me as far as a long-term outlook. That's a lot of B's.
