    Default Keeper Help

    Hey guys,

Need help choosing between Seth Jones and Erik Gustafsson...

If the goose is loose and we can expect same deployment as last year moving forward, he is where I'm leaning especially with the nice unexpected hits and blks he is actually solid for.

AND can Jones maintain historical value with all that the team has lost this Summer? UGH cuz I love Jones!

Feel free to weigh in on my Holtby - Price dilemma as well, lol!

Thanks in advance - rep where I can!

If this were a cap league, I could see potentially keeping Gustafsson instead of Jones because of the low AAV, but I think you've gotta keep Jones here. You can probably re-draft Gus much easier than you'd be able to for Jones, and Gus is far less proven.

Between Holtby and Price, I think it's Holtby with your settings. I'd expect Price might have better ratios if Holtby continues his statistical trajectory of the past couple seasons, but with your settings Holtby should be the stronger option. Holtby is also a couple years younger, and he's in a contract year so he should be extra motivated to have a good season.

I think the fact that Gustafsson has no real competition for PP minutes should be a factor here. Chicago has a loaded first unit. Columbus can’t say that.

team is vastly improved in front of him I feel and he is just plain and simply one of the most talented if not the most talented goalie in the game IMO.

There was an article on Dobber this week saying Gus will produce like this for years. Just saying.

just because there's an article does not mean it will pan out. Do you recall how Dobber praised the potential of Talbot after that first season in EDM?

Didn’t say they’re always right, I just tend to agree with the assessment given what Chicago has to work with offensively compared to Columbus.

Safe choice Jones...wana win a championship need to take big swings and Gus could be that... for what it's worth I do think Jones is better but worse team...

I'm still sticking to my guns here with Jones and Holtby, but I will say this about Gustafsson: it looks like if his usage remains consistent with his deployment down the stretch for Chicago, he should be a peripherals monster in addition to the offensive upside. Over his last 22 games, Gustafsson was only under 23 minutes on four occasions (three of which were 22:50+), so he's clearly getting the #1 Dman type of usage. In those final 22 games, he accumulated 56 shots, 42 hits, and 35 blocks -- in addition to 22 points.

Needless to say that kind of production was enough to help GMs win some leagues. Point per game with 2.5 shots, 2 hits, and 1.5 blocks per game, that's elite multi-category production ... if he can sustain a similar pace for a whole season. 60+ points with 200 shots, 150 hits, and 125 blocks would be an incredible fantasy season, so if you're looking for a homerun swing I get it. I'm certainly excited about him after taking a shot late in the draft last year and striking gold.
