    Default Draft advice

    Hi Everyone,

We're about to start our draft in my keeper league (details in signature). Hoping to get some advice on who I should take in the first round. I have the 3rd overall pick and the position I feel i have the most depth at is wing. So here are some of the top candidates at center, defense, and goal. I missed the playoffs last year, so I am trying to get someone who is keeper worthy or at the very least will be someone I could definitely trade at the deadline for a good prospect or pick.

Center: Pavelski, Getzlaf, Marchessault, Kadri, Krejci, Galchenyuk, Stepan
Defense: Edler, Suter, Muzzin, Spurgeon, C. Miller, Shattenkirk, Morrissey
Goal: Markstrom, Howard, Mike Smith, Talbot, Korpisalo, Varlamov

    thanks for your help

None of them sound like a WOW 3rd overall.. don’t know how deep your league is and if drafting byram or turcotte (assuming 1-2 are hughes and kakko iver these players on your list).

But if i had to choose one it would be pavelski then marchessault. Pavelski will provide good stats for 1-2 more years

Marchessault, Kadri, and maybe Varlamov stand out as options from that list that could be interesting. If you're just looking for the most valuable asset, I would include wingers so we can see if there's a better option available. Guys like Pavelski, Getzlaf, and Edler should be good contributors as well, but the question is for how much longer. If you're looking for potential keepers, I'm not sure these guys fit the bill.

I think I would just be taking the best player available, and worrying about positional stuff after.

At wing there is Lebanc, Granlund, Voracek, JT Miller, Dadonov, Reilly Smith, Kreider, and Oshie

We already completed our farm draft (less than 100 GP). I traded up to get Kakko.

I'd be tempted to take Kreider or Dadonov with that pick, but if you can maybe trade down a few slots and add another selection that could work too. Kreider seems like he would be dominant in your settings, and Dadonov should be an easy 70-point winger.

With only 12 teams, and it seems like a pretty poor goalie market, I think I may take Markstrom. There's a much larger gap between him and Howard than any of the other positions.

Pavelski and Kadri are intriguing to me because of their new teams. They should be lock for top 6mins and most likely top pp mins with guys like Benn, Seguin, Klingberg, Rantanen, McKinnon...But at the same time there is a question marks for both of them.
I will probably go with Marchessault or maybe Dadonov.
