You're bound to get this type of outcome when stuff like LTIR isn't even clearly delineated in the CBA. There is so much vague language that crafty lawyers will always find exceptions, and novel interpretations to certain clauses within the agreement. I mean, the Leafs basically invented "offseason LTIR" a couple years ago, and that was totally fine.

imo it's entirely fair to speculate about this stuff, because nobody really knows how this stuff in the CBA is going to be interpreted.

I vote for not getting your panties all bunched up over a friendly hockey chat board. No one here is an expert on the CBA nor do we need to be. We’re enjoying speculation and talk about what’s going with NHL teams and players...not working for an NHL team.
