If Ceci isn't on the roster, I would expect to see Rosen/Borgman get the minutes early on at least. I'm thinking Leafs management would like Sandin/Liljegren continuing to eat big minutes for the Marlies in their development.

Yes, Ceci verbally agreed to a one year, $4.5 million contract with the Leafs. Arb case likely would have come in above that and that wouldn’t have worked for Toronto. Good opportunity for Ceci to raise his market value.

well this makes no sense to me...I thought they wanted to save cap space. Instead, they trade Zaitsev AND Brown and sign Ceci for the same money that Zaitsev was earning. I actually think Zaitsev is a better dman as well, so this is very, very odd.
This deal doesn't seem to solve any of Toronto's problems. They aren't any stronger on defense and they still have cap issues.

Interesting trade. Will be fun to watch Brown play for the Sens. Maybe Zaitsev plays better under different coaching. I'd love to revisit this deal in a year or two.

If Harpur and Ceci are on Torontos starting line up come next season, they have gone backwards. I also read today that Ottawa is signing Hainsey.
Toronto is flipping half of their top six Dmen next year.
