Yeah, I’m not going to pursue it further.
I traded away Girard about a month ago and got the 7th overall pick in this years draft for him
Wow. That would not fly in my league. Good for you!
I think the Barrie trade just changed things. He's going to be given an opportunity to run with the PP and I'm very curious to see how he does.

Yeah, I decided to go for it. Literally 5 minutes later, the Barrie trade was announced. Haha. Could not have worked out better.
Girard might not be a PP1 star dman but he's going to be well over 20 minutes per game this year so I expect to see him at least in the 35-point range. More if he catches fire on the PP.

Maybe not, but I though he looked ok in his audition here and there this year. He didn't look as confident as Barrie but he's 20 years old.. I think he'll take a very big step next year and surprise on the PP.

Girard will hit 45-50 points by accident on this team... unless they roll out Makar and Byram immediately. If Byram plays 9 games, he may have 9 or 10 points and Girard may never get the opp ever. If that happens, he will still hit 35-40. 25 of those will be apples from Mack warping by him and taking the puck with him to the attack. If the rooks hit their wall right as fantasy playoffs start, Girard could be a very nice piece down the stretch (AND the Avs play more than most teams during FH playoffs).

With Barrie gone, Girard's fantasy value increases a little. Makar is still the odds-on favorite to be the Avs horse on the PP--both short and long-term. With Byram in the fold, Girard appears to be the 3rd best offensive options on the Avs blue line in the end.
That said, Girard could see a spike early on if Makar looks a little shaky or if there is an injury. The perfect time to trade Girard would be after a quick spike; before Makar gets a strangle hold on the PP and Byram arrives full-time.
Girard is a talented fellow, but with the talent on the Avs back-end, I don't see him scoring more than 40-45 points there.
With Barrie out of the picture now, my personal opinion of Girard's short-term value has increased a little. With second unit PP time and 20+ mins a night on a high-scoring Avalanche team, I can see Girard score 35-40 pts this coming season.
Long-term, I maintain my view that Makar and Byram are ahead of him on the depth chart for main PP time, which means that once Byram gets going (perhaps as early as 2020-21), Girard's value will diminish significantly. If he gets bumped off both power play units he will be hard pressed to score over 30 pts.

I dunno how you keep this kind of skating and puck control off the PP....
No Barrie = decent fantasy bump to Girard
