Also hearing J.T. Miller is getting traded to Vancouver. Not sure on return. Would clear $5.25 million of cap space, with Miller’s NT clause not kicking in until July 1, TB only had certain time for flexibility. @TSNBobMcKenzie reporting it first.

TRADE: The Lightning have traded forward J.T. Miller to Vancouver for a conditional first-round pick in 2020, a third-round selection in 2019 and goaltender Marek Mazanec. Should the Canucks not make the playoffs in 2019-20, the first-round selection will move to the 2021 draft.

No man. Vancouver is sending the draft pick. If they don’t make the playoffs they keep the pick and send a 2021 1st to Tampa. I realize how hard that is to believe. Insane.

To clear the air on the different years for the conditional hears the explanation... "Canucks GM Jim Benning explained the provisions of the 2020 pick in a statement, revealing that it converts to a 2021 first-round selection if Vancouver misses the playoffs next spring."

Nonetheless, this does give a boost to the Canucks' top 6 and Miller's value. He has no competition unlike the situation in Tampa.

Just think how much better Benning will get if Chiarelli joins him in making these decisions.

In all seriousness, I think Miller can fit in well with the Canucks. Hes versatile enough to play the wing or down the middle and should compliment their PP.
