Default Hurricanes not optimistic about signing goalies

Mrazek and McElhinney might be signing elsewhere. Also noteworthy because a good team like the Hurricanes might have two new goalies next year.

Buy out Darling... make a huge push for Bob - Varly as a secondary option & bring up Ned as a back up.. maybe that's the plan?? lol

Gives McElhinney a shot, does well, doesn't want to play in Carolina.

There are a decent amount of meh-goalies available though. Bob, Varl, Smith, Talbot, Lehner, Kinkaid. Then there's Reimer and Luo available in a trade probably.

RFA goalies in Rittich, Binnington, Ullmaark, Korpisalo, and they have Nedljkovic that they need to re-sign (doubt any of those RFAs leave their current teams tho)

Waddell is the sourest puss of all the puss-es in the NHL.
Couldn't stand watching him interview or speak in his days with ATL.

My guess is that he doesn't want to mess with cap allocation until Aho is signed.
Then everybody else will fall in line in order.

Could be a nice opportunity for Alex Nedeljkovic, maybe paired with some other patchwork vet like Talbot.
I think that's Waddell's thinking - I'll just plug whoever in here, somebody needs a job and my teams' defensive system will make any G look fine.

Let's be honest, Mrazek and McEhlhinney are mediocre goalies at best. It shouldn't be hard to replace either guy if they walk.

On the flip side, we're seeing plenty of examples of teams and/or agents using the media to make things look better or worse than they really are. Previously it looked like Alex Edler would be going to free agency. Now (a day later) it's being reported they've made progress. So basically take all of this with a grain of salt. I wouldn't rule out both Mrazek and McElhinney re-signing with the Hurricanes over the next week.
