Seems like a good hire given the Ducks' youth movement, despite his lack of success in Edmonton.

I like this signing for the Ducks especially with the youth movement coming in Anaheim. Dallas Eakins was highly sought after back when coached the Marlies prior to the Edmonton shit-show. Honestly, I think coaching could help the Ducks challenge for a playoff spot this year.

I'm afraid he showed nothing of even being a competent coach at the NHL level. He displayed a weird and dismissive style towards the players and when engaging with the media. Nobody in Edmonton saw the coaching excellence on display that he may have shown in the AHL recently.
Most Oiler fans are glad he is long gone from Edmonton. I'm not sure how he was actually thought of internal to the organization.
