Unlike a court of law, the NHL doesn't need hard proof that Kuznetsov actually used cocaine, or even if that is in fact cocaine on the table. The NHL can use whatever circumstantial evidence they want to suspend Kuznetsov.
That said, I don't think anything major will come of this, but I suspect to save face the NHL will suspend Kuznetsov for a couple of games. Truthfully, I think the NHL doesn't really care all that much about cocaine use. I believe they know it is wide-spread, but even if a player tests positive for cocaine, they generally don't do anything about it (except ask the player if he has an issue and would like to enter their substance abuse program).
