Unlike a court of law, the NHL doesn't need hard proof that Kuznetsov actually used cocaine, or even if that is in fact cocaine on the table. The NHL can use whatever circumstantial evidence they want to suspend Kuznetsov.

That said, I don't think anything major will come of this, but I suspect to save face the NHL will suspend Kuznetsov for a couple of games. Truthfully, I think the NHL doesn't really care all that much about cocaine use. I believe they know it is wide-spread, but even if a player tests positive for cocaine, they generally don't do anything about it (except ask the player if he has an issue and would like to enter their substance abuse program).

Whatever suspension he might get, he'll just appeal and have it cut in half.

Yeah let's be real a lot of guys in the NHL are doing coke. I feel like it was probably a higher percentage in the past than it is now.

I do think he should be punished just to send a message though. These guys are supposed to be role models. If you want to do coke on your own time then go for it but have some ****ing discretion and don't ever let yourself be on camera.

Cocaine use is more widespread than one would think and it is particularly true in the "party" environment of professional athletes.
It is easy to get, it gives you an empowerment feeling (hello performance) and has seen a spike in its popularity.
Kuznetsov cannot be incriminated with this video, but let's not be surprised that a NHL player is seen with two lines of "white powder" in front of him.
    Points-only keeper league. 12 teams. Keep any 12 players. Dress 12F - 6D - 2G.

I would be surprised if it was any less than 1-in-5 NHLers who do blow and that's a conservative estimate.

Its not illegal to be stupid in most cases

Kuznetsov falls into the stupid category

Its a clear failure to assess the situation and another mistake to have the video taken

Kid needs to grow up fast
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

He's 27 years old, playing hockey for a living, making millions of dollars, and enjoying his life. I'd say he's moved well beyond the kid phase and since no one will care about this next week, he's doing pretty well for himself.

    Agreed.

There was a time I used to want to be famous, but with the proliferation of cameras everywhere now and the internet giving everyone a platform to shout their idiotic opinions from (says the guy writing his own idiotic opinion on a web forum), I'm glad that dream never came true. Foolishness like this gets blown way out of proportion.
