I think you're better off with Glass.
Hey guys, another league member has offered me 5th overall in the 2019 entry (only 2019 draftees available) for my Cody Glass. Should I do it? (I don't care that Glass is closer to arriving, just looking for the best prospect.)
Thanks

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
I keep Glass here, he's pegged as a sure-fire bet to make the NHL soon. I mean, chances are 5th overall pick makes the NHL in the next few years but whether that turns out to be an Elias Pettersson (5th in 2017) or a Michael Dal Colle (5th in 2014) remains to be seen.
Without me, it's only "aweso".
Exlcuding Matthews, Eichel... lets look at the US born players to go in the top 10 over the past few years. I say US.. cuz at 5. I'd take Turcotte in most formats.
I dunno... Glass is going to be real good. But Who was the last top 10 US Born miss?
Hanifin; Werenski
Keller
MIttelstadt
Tkachuk's
Now you've got turcotte, zegras, boldy in the top 10.
Close to a guaranteed hit it would seem.
Pretty much a coin flip if you ask me

I'd keep Glass, if only due to more certainty. He's had two more years to develop and show you what he can be, and we know that he'll have shot at a top six spot in Vegas in 19-20.
Will he though?

Not sure he even gets a sniff at 3rd line next year. I would think he takes another year... maybe two before he cracks those lines. He would need a lights out camp to push any of them.

Shiney pick vs Glass.
I don't think the 5th overall is an upgrade to Glass at this point so I'd hold Glass.

I would stick with Glass. Going with the pick adds unnecessary volatility.
Glass
You could be right. I was thinking that Stastny is fragile and getting to the age where his production could fall off a cliff, although his edge has always been his hockey sense so he could go on for a few more years. My point was that Glass will get a shot next year whereas the #5 will be in college / junior and possibly the year after that as well.
Glass. 3G and 2A in 6 AHL reg season games. 4G, 3a in 11 AHL playoff games. Not a bad start to his pro career.

Glass is having a good playoffs in the AHL... thus showing he is ready to take the next step. Pick him and don't think twice!
