He could be a good trade guy, but he could also bounce back. Depends on the return you would get.
I was retooling this season in my 15 team salary cap keeper league. I ended up moving Pastrnak for Nylander, Borgstrom, and a 1st, which looks to be 8th overall in the upcoming entry draft.
I have had interest from a few guys in Nylander, but I feel with his holdout and then never getting into a rhythm that he obviously didn't have a very good season. I want some opinion on if I should keep him and he starts the year on Matthews wing, and ends up having a great season next year, OR, do I move him, because ultimately the Leafs will have to move him to address their lack of D, and his value may dip?
Thanks in advance,
Puck

I would have kept Pastrnak to begin with. I’d also hold onto Nylander at this point. He is still a sell low player at the moment. Keep him and hope for the bounce back season.
Agree with DD - Nylander at this point is a hold for me.
Regardless of Matthews line (the ideal in TOR for him), at his salary and the Leafs impending cap, I believe he'll either be put into a position to justify his salary on the Leafs (aka: Matthews line) or be dealt where he'll be a 1st line W on a different team. Either scenario says a better season production-wise for him imo.
Caveat: I'm not a "cap" guy, and was informed by another poster that Nylander's cap hit this season was atrocious, so just know I'm not really factoring that into the equation. Straight (expected) production into the future is all I'm commenting on.

He's either a top 6 winger in TOR or somewhere else, so I'd hold.

Tough trade but what's done is done. Totally depends on the return for me. He could be a very good trade candidate if you can find the right Toronto fan willing to give up someone like, say... Pasternak .

I'm holding Nylander. I don't think this past season, with the holdout and negotiations going on, is indicative of what to expect in the future from him.
You're setting yourself up or a bad trade if you deal him now.

You have to hold.
He's got a pt/gm level ceiling and you'd be selling him after a .5 pt/gm season.
You won't get full value.

The question shouldn't be whether or not to trade him. That gets decided by the offers you receive. If there's interest in him you might find a scenario that makes your team better.
