NJ moved out some money in Johansson deal.
They will need it to re-sign Taylor Hall in summer of 2020.
Have to think he gets 10.5-11M on long-term deal there...if he stays

I agree with rataylor. What is confusing about that?

I assume he means because Johansson is a UFA after this season.
Without me, it's only "aweso".
NJD don't have money, even moving a UFA out makes them save money this yr. Physical money.

Ya, I'm with the rest of you, trying to figure out where the issue is.
If it is the Johanssen UFA issue, it is possible that it frees up space this year to account for any bonuses and prevent them from effecting next years cap.
Johansson's contract runs out on June 30th, 2019. Taylor Hall becomes a UFA on June 30th 2020. Trading a contract that runs out this summer does not give the Devils more cap space the following year. The Devils would have just as much cap space when they try to re-sign Hall if they did not trade Johansson then they do after they traded him away.
Not if they re-sign Johansson. Keep in mind, they can re-sign Hall in the off-season to an extension if I am not mistaken. That being said, thank you for the clarity.

Is New Jersey a cap team? Are they a rich team? I’d assume the owner is always looking to save money YOY
