I really like Datsyuk but this isn't a good idea imo. Hasn't worked out well for Kovalchuk, even though he isn't in the same class as Pavel and 5 years younger.
Thats what I got from the article.

Hmm, I suspect he could be a good defensive center still. I was not really expecting to have to make a decision on him if he came back to the NHL, so thanks for putting this on my radar.

I'd love to see him back and I'd have him on my team any day.

2nd/3rd line centre and PP specialist? I think he could definitely do that.
His last season in Detroit he wasn't able to make those one on one moves and the league has only gotten faster....but Im sure there is still a spot for him somewhere.
Probably my favorite player to watch so I can't be against this.
Have stashed him on the dynasty farm.
I just hope it's not Detroit.
Wish we could do this in our league. I would be adding him as well.
Would love to see him come over at the end of this year (if it is possible) and sign with a team like Winnipeg for a playoff run.
Not sure if this is at all possible. I just remember Radulov was able to do it that one year for the Preds.... but I guess he was probably still under contract with the Preds at the time thus allowing it.
Datsyuk would have to sign before the trade deadline, like Mike Fisher did last year. I don't know the details of his current contract in Russia, but I don't think it will be over by then. So I think he's out for this year, and it would be the beginning of the season next year that we would see him at the earliest.

Isn't there a clause where a player that played in another league this year has to clear waivers? I remember this coming up with the Ryan O'Reilly offer sheet, and a few other cases.
Fisher didn't have to clear waivers because he didn't play at all before signing. And in Radulov's case he was finishing the final year of his ELC, not signing a new deal.

Don't forget he plays for SKA, a top KHL team, which normally goes deep into the playoffs - basically meaning he'll be playing into April. We won't see him sign with anyone until July 1

I'm not sure what to make of this. Something gives me the feeling that this is just his agent trying to get more cash out of Dat's final KHL contract.
