That could be the upside. There are some serious costs to shutting down the NHL to go to the Olympics so there needs to be a real and large financial benefit. the last Olympics were in Korea and it seemed clear that the owners did not think the exposure NHL players would generate was worth the cost. Conversley, the next Olympics are in CHINA! The Country that the NHL has been pushing hard to get into in recent years and that has a exponential growth potential if the NHL could ever gain a foothold of fans. For now I choose to remain positive and think this means NHL players will be in China in 2022 (hopefully they are not locked out at the time).
