Would've expected Puljujarvi or Yamamoto going the other way in return for Larsson-Lite so it's nice to see Chiarelli exercise some restraint. I do agree that adding the 3rd still seems to be a bit much though.

The 3rd is more valuable than Petrovic. It's possible the Oilers just wanted to get rid of Wideman because of contract amount restrictions but that's what this deal boils down to. Petrovic has been a #7 defenseman for the Panthers, and I would be surprised if he was anything more for the Oilers (although they could definitely use him more than that to justify the trade).

Too little, too late. Chiarelli knew in the summer of 2017 he had to replace an injured Sekera. He finally got around to it in December 2018, just as Sekera is due back and Edm has to clear $ to make room for him again.
