Barzal Dropped - Worth a claim?
As the title states, Barzal was just dropped in my league (see sig.). Do we think he's gonna turn it on here soon and perform similar to last year or not since JT left? My team is a tire fire this season and I am in last by a good margin so i'm looking more long term at this. Also, the league is going to expand to 12 teams next year and possibly add a third keeper. Thoughts?

I don’t see a reason to claim unless you’re A) keeping him, B) starting him and thinking he’ll turn your season around or C) including him in a trade for a pick or a player you will keep

I'd roll the dice on Barzal in favor of Nyquist without any hesitation.

Ya, this move can't hurt you. I mean, he's still on pace for 65 points, and one 5 point game (which he had a few of last year) puts him close to a PPG. Grab him before someone else does, and you might be able to move him for a pick or something later in the season.Originally Posted by rtstr

This is sort of what I'm thinking. Nyquist is interchangable for sure, was more so curious about what the opinion was of his performance moving forward will be and if the move is worth while. Sounds like just from a pure potential pov it makes sense. I burned my #1 waiver spot on Skinner at the start of the season (no regrets there) but have climbed to 8th since. As for keepers, i'm really not sure where i'm going yet. We have a rule that only 1 keeper can be carried over from a previous season which means only Hall or Bob can be kept for next season but not both.

Barzal is still a very good player. His skill set hasn’t vanished. I would definitely pick him up. If he turns it around he is a tradable asset. If he doesn’t, you haven’t lost anything.

He def shouldn't be a free agent. If you move to 3 keepers he could contend for a spot if he has a great 2nd half. I see Hall as your only lock with consideration to (in no particular order) tank, Giroux, Jones, dahlin, barzel. Good add.
