    Default Who wins this deal.

    Gm 1
    McDavid
    Panarin

    For

    Gm 2
    Tavares
    Stone
    2nd and 3rd round picks
(any pick beyond first round are usually a crap shoot. Hold very little value)

This trade was made in my league (sig) and it’s come under some scrutiny. I believe the McDavid side wins all day. Let’s say the trade was suspicious

A couple hours later. Same Gm 1 trades

    J Carlson
    R Dahlin

    For

    V Hedman
    N Leddy
    2nd, 3rd round picks.

Notice a trend. This one isn’t so lopsided but in a keeper league, I’d take the Carlson side all day.
Also note that Gm 1 is “tanking” supposedly, so to give away younger players really makes no sense.

    But wait.... there’s more!!!!

A few hours after the 2nd deal Gm1 trades

    L Draisaitl
    T Konecny
    E Dadanov
    A Debrincat

    For

    M Granlund
    E Staal
    A Mantha
T Rattie (yes the one who has been a healthy scratch 5 games now and will be waived soon. )
    2nd, 3rd and 4th rd picks.

This one also on the surface seems so-so. But broken down if you’re rebuilding which side would you rather have, I’d take the Draisaitl side all day.

Unfortunately our commissioner is one of the GM’s who partook in these three trades. So there isn’t much chance convincing him of any wrong doing. But I wonder what the community thinks.

One final note. Gm1 has been wanting to quit our league for several seasons and a few of us believe that he will, at the end of this year. He hadn’t “talked trades” with any other Gm in my league for almos a year prior to this 24hr fire sale. And finally, has stated that he is tanking. Do any of these trades resemble a Gm who is tanking?

    McDavid
    Dahlin
    Draisaitl
    Panarin
    Carlson
    Debrincat
    Konecny

    For

    Staal
    Stone
    Leddy
    Rattie
Etc. How do you build around that?

    Opinions please. Will rep

Agree. They are all bad trades.

I would bring it up. Argue the trades are bad and do not make sense for a team that is rebuilding. You don't trade away young promising talent for picks, that doesn't make sense.

If people don't want to veto them and argue there was no collusion, then I would want a caveat that if the GM who made the trade leaves the league before the end of next season the trades are reversed.

Trades 1 & 3 no matter how you spin them are just complete garbage and if they aren't veto'd, personally, I'd quit the league. These are the type's of trades that change the outlook of the entire league.

Trade 2 is a little more reasonable and I wouldn't have an issue with it.

I will take that into consideration. One way or another these trades cannot stand.

It looks like a guy that's about to quit but before he does he's going to sort out the one guy in the league that he likes. The mcdavid trade is so cringy.

Seems to be a dump and run to me. Trades 1 and 3 are ridiculous. 2 is bad but not as awful. Has anyone asked this GM WTF he's thinking? Small chance they could be trying to set up for next season. That's quite a few 2nd and 3rd round picks.

This Gm has not given any indication that he has a clue what he’s doing. He had many 1st second and 3rd round picks this year which he used to acquire Carlson and draft Dahlin, Konecny and Dadanov. Which he then proceeded to trade away. ???

Smells like collusion-- find a new league if this is how your leaguemates do things.

Yeah..... If you care about this league, I'd open discussion with the other GM's and do something about this person.

To answer your original question. No one wins that deal, the entire league loses.

I think you have a consensus. It's collusion at worst, or league destroying trades at best. Either way, I wouldn't stay in a league if your Commissioner decides to put the interests f his team above the interests of the league. A commissioner must be unbiased and be free from conflicts of interest...

Good luck to you, hope it works out.

Yeah league breaking stuff here. It's bad enough when these types of things happen in a one year pool but to upset the entire balance of a keeper league is 100x worse.

You have to address the issue with the other owners in the league. Then go to the Commissioner with your concerns. I think the trades (besides #2) are egregious enough to warrant a veto. If the commissioner can't see this then unfortunately you and the rest of the sane owners should leave this league and start a new league together next season. Having the commissioner involved in all of these suspect trades is a huge red flag for me.
