Just curious what the forum's opinion on the ultimate outcome will be now that we're some 30-odd hours away from the End of this Insufferable Drama.

    ---EDIT---
I voted bridge deal. Kinda shocked the Bergenheim Option is winning the poll.

    I think it's a 50% bridge deal, 40% long term, 9.9% trade, 0.1% sit out

    ---EDIT---
wow, fair amount of people thinking sit out. Le'Veon Nylander I guess

I think this is a sign and trade or holdeout. Don't think there's anyway he's a leaf come the new year. They have to get something for him and not have him sit, they're rolling right now and need to give this team a better chance at winning a cup this year. If he sits for the year Dubas has failed us.

Good God I hope the current majority (sitting out the season) is wrong. That's the boring option.

I am honestly surprised if there's a holdout. Like...that's terrible asset management by Toronto and terrible decision making by Nylander.

I just see 0 positive from either side of a holdout besides proving both sides are stubborn as he77

Long-term or Bridge deal are the top two, trade as a distant third and sitting out the whole season way, way off in the distance. It doesn't benefit either side for him to sit out the entire season.

I was waiting for a thread like this to be made. Personally, I have a feeling this will be worst case scenario here. I voted that he sits out the full season. This would be a disastrous outcome for the Leafs, Leafs Nation, Dubas and Nylander. We are finally legit Cup contenders THIS SEASON. If you can't sign him, get the greatest asset available to you in order to go for it all THIS SEASON. Latest rumour is Dubas contacted Holmgren which makes a lot of sense. Philadelphia are shaking things up and have become impatient with the rebuild while they have plenty of young D to offer. This would be so much more entertaining if we had more of these rumours leak in the final hours.

It's funny, the positive about signing him late for the Leafs (high cap this yr, lower the rest of the contract) is the reason why it would be hard to sign and trade him I guess.

They sign him to a 6.9mill/yr deal would be roughly 9mill this yr. Not many teams that apparently want him can afford 9mill this yr.

The Leafs really bungled this one. They were way too confident that they'd sign him and way too presumptuous to think that he should take less money just so they can pay the guys they value more than him.

If trading him, the return they'll get is less than it should be, and would have been had they made the move months ago. If they sign him, it'll probably be at a pricetag higher than what they wanted. If he sits out, that sucks for all parties involved.
