Article on ESPN+ by Emily Kaplan analyzed this trade pretty well.
One of those "Let's trade similar guys and see if they pan out better in different locations."
It seemed to work a bit for Max Domi, so Chayka is going back to that well.

Arizona also needs to try to jump-start Hinostroza & Galchenyuk.
I think Schmaltz goes right into C2 with former Hawks Panik(LW) and Hinostroza(RW).
Galchenyuk will push down to C3 or C4.

While many people still have faith in Dylan Strome (myself included), I do think he benefits from playing with elite talent.
Nothing wrong with that... but obviously rejoining DeBrincat makes some sense here.

I think we see good short-term improvement from Schmaltz.
I think D.Strome will still be a slow Couturier-ian type of rise. Might be year #5 or #6 before he truly breaks out a bit.

Everyone is licking their chops hoping he and the 'cat find the chemistry they had in Erie.

I imagine that if the Hawks try out a Debrincat - Strome - Kane line and it clicks, Kahun may get up to the first line with Toews and Saad.

As a Schmaltz owner, I hope he boosts his production too and shoots more.

Schmaltz could end up in one of two spots, essentially the ones left by Strome and Perlini: C3 or LW1. He could be stuck in a depth role down the middle until Dvorak returns, which in turn would give one of Grabner/Crouse a boost at LW.

They could also slide him to the wing as well.

Do you guys think Schmaltz can really push down Galchenyuk to C3 or even C4??? I don't buy that personnaly...I think Chucky is better and it's not even close...but maybe I am biased by owning him...

No, although short-term anything can happen given the team's struggles.

Galchenyuk looks better than he plays.
The tools are there, but I'm not sold on his hockey sense.
I think he needs less minutes (sheltered minutes).

You can see where he ranks on his team this year for shot-differential, not good:
    http://www.nhl.com/stats/player?repo...t=shotAttempts

Chucky has been getting enough offensive zone starts and limited QoC...
He really should be doing a lot better than he has been.
    https://frozenpool.dobbersports.com/...e.php?team=ARI
Arizona needs to do something different with him - probably less minutes/less pressure, IMO, is a good starting point.

Let's not forget about OHL Dman of the year and former Erie Otter, Darren Raddysh, who will surely (eventually) get a chance to QB the 2nd PP unit along with former Jr teammates, Strome and Debrincat... especially with the way he is playing in the AHL right now. Reuniting those three kids together could be a huge, long-term bonus play for Chicago.

Chicago's future, especially their blue-line (Joki, Boqvist, Mitchell, Raddysh, Krys, etc.), is looking better and better each day... Bowman is a magician.

When discussing trading Strome and Perlini, Coyotes GM John Chayka said "there is a difference between patience and hope. The latter is not a way to build your organization".

    Yeesh. That's a bit harsh.
    Source?

    Of greater note:
Perlini was a 2014 Yotes pick (12th overall).
    D.Strome was a 2015 Yotes pick (3rd overall).
    Chayka became GM in 2016.
[In fairness, Chayka joined the Yotes as asst-to-the-GM on May 23, 2015... but I guess he wasn't integral in the Strome selection!]

As GMs do... if the players ain't "THEIRS"... they'll find a way to trade them out and bring in guys they can take credit for.
