He just targeted Oshie with a head shot. The slow mo shows Malkin clearly taking a look at Oshie who is closing in on him, but not in hitting position and Malkin takes the aggressor role, leans towards Oshie with the shoulder and catches nothing but the head.
Oshie out.

I would suspend on this one. A clear targeted shot to the head.

That's not going to be a suspension. Malkin looked like he braced himself for a hit from Oshie. No previous suspension history plus no clear dirty play = no suspension.

I honestly didn't think it was too bad, and mostly just incidental contact from Malkin being tall and Oshie coming at him. I would guess 1 game at most.

Look at his eyes on the play. He sees Oshie coming and leans into him, right into his head. The contact was not incidental, but completely avoidable. The forceful contact with the head that is, they were clearly on a contact course, but Malkin anticipated and went for Oshie's head. Malkin's eyes and his lean do all the talking. They showed several slow replays in the broadcast. It was pretty clear he intended to get the head, which is why the refs conferred immediately because they knew it was intentional.
It will probably be a game or two, but I'm counting on a suspension.

Interesting. I didn't see the slow replay. From a real game speed view, it looked like Malkin just braced himself for impact as he saw Oshie coming in for a hit.

It was ****ing terrible. You can actually see Malkin look at Oshie and then he throws the elbow/shoulder into his head. What a dick. Malkin is crushing it for me in my main league too. Hope Oshie is ok. I like Gino as a player, but he did not have to hit Oshie like that. It wasn't as if Oshie was coming in to smash Gino there. I actually think he was trying to go behind him to get to the man on the puck. Terrible play and I think that he does deserve some sort of suspension. Its dirty.

Malkin didn't change his lane or angle. Malkin didn't raise his elbow. Malkin didn't leave his feet. It looked to me that Oshie skated right into Malkin.

He changed his body position and leaned into Oshie's head. He saw him coming and took advantage of the angle and off-balance approach of Oshie.

I agree with AZ. I think it was intentional and predatory on a player who was looking to go behind him.
