    Default Aho v Stamkos

    G/A/Pts/PIM/PPP/FOW/Hits/SOG

Does Aho's hot start (and Stamkos' slow start) make this close?

    I'm taking Stamkos for sure.

But based on positions come January it might be closer than one might have originally thought. But it's still Stamkos>Aho.

I somewhat tried to steer clear of Stamkos this season after many of his points came very early last season when him and Kuch were on a hot streak. Figured he was due for a down season. Aho is looking incredible ... with that being said, I would keep Aho over Stamkos at the moment.

A week and a half later I'm sticking with Stamkos. 10pts or something in 8 games, vs 5pts in 8 games.

Hot starts for young players seem to always cloud some ppls eyes.

Stammer all day in a win now setting - 80 pt floor vs. a hot start Aho... Aho’s ceiling this year is Stamkos’ floor

Maybe in 3 years Aho wins out but you’ve sure lost a lot of winning now potential to do it

Newsflash - other than his injury shortened 2016-17 and 20 games to start last season, Stamkos has scored at only a 70 point pace since his first injury. Look it up if you don't believe me. Stamkos has never been the same since the first injury and now is entering his post-prime era. After witnessing what Aho did at the IIHF World Championships, I can't see him ever being less than a point per game player, starting this season.

He's at an 80pt/82game season over his last 187games

And like 77pts/82games over his last 269games

From the above comments this sounds like a “Fake-News” Flash bro

Stamkos is at over a 70 point pace today after a very slow start - and all amazing players will go through spurts of extreme unsustainable production (look at Malkin this year). This is how they get to 90 points - no player puts up 1.1 points in every single game to get to 90.

Now what I did say was that Stamkos will put up at least 80 this year and that Aho has never done it. Also, that after a 65 point season last year, 80 seems like a reasonable ceiling. In a win now situation I take the proven asset of 80+ - if I’m rebuilding I take Aho but in a win now situation I’d need an Aho + to make that deal. In the future Stamkos will decline but remember Getzlaf is 33 and still at a point per game pace - injuries are keeping him down of course.

Lastly, Tampa is likely one of the teams that will score the most goals in the NHL this year - Stamkos is guaranteed 25 power play points. Carolina is having a nice start but there’s no certainty that they’re even a playoff team - as any young team they will struggle to score at some points this year. Tampa is silky smooth - I go with the secure asset in a win now situation and not for a win in 2 years situation

Personally, I think Aho has PPG potential in him. Might not be this season, might be only a couple of seasons or could be 4 seasons in a row. It's not really clear at this point. While the talent is there and the situation looks promising, there are too many variables at this point. I certainly think he's got more in him than he has thus far shown.

But with that said, I would still have to lean towards Stamkos, at least for the next 3 seasons or so.

Young players have their ups and downs, after a big start, Aho has slowed down a bit.

I am getting offers in my Dynasty league for Aho. Was offered Chabot for Aho straight up. While Chabot right now looks like the greatest scoring D man in the history of the NHL, it's unlikely to last.

With Stamkos, most of these questions are answered and really injury is the biggest concern with him.
