    Default Rantanen or Pettersson

    Team 1 in sig.

Not sure if I should hold or sell. With all the injuries on the team, I?m not sure if it?s my year or not.

In a keeper league I would keep Pettersson. Superstar in the making.

Do a search. I think there was a similar thread on these two recently.

Myself, I think both have similar upsides and in a goal heavy league, Rantanen may end up being the better option. Tough call. Not sure there's a right or wrong answer for you.

Lots of hype around Pettersson and probably deserved. I'll take rantanen this year and reasess after this season and a bigger sample size with Pettersson.

Rantanen plays on one of the top lines in the league, gets prime opportunity and minutes, is a proven nhl scorer that seems to just be getting better, and is on a good team. Can't say any of those things about Pettersson yet.

Edit: it's still a tough call because in the small sample we've seen Pettersson looks really good. For a competing team this season I prefer rant. Hard to make a call past this season without more information. Both look to be great future choices, likely no wrong answer long term.

It's not like we're talking Pettersson over an older 32-yr old vet here either, Rantanen is still only 21 and is even faster, stronger and smarter than he was last season.

As exciting as Pettersson is you've got to take the bird in the hand over the bird in the bush.

Rantanen - and I don't think its close.

When making a decision like this, you have hype/upside (even deserved hype/upside) v. demonstrated production and we have to weigh the two. IMO, the difference between Pettersson and Rantanen's upside is not nearly enough to outweigh Rantanen's demonstrated performance thus far.

There's just not enough evidence in Pettersson's corner to take him over Rantanen, who is already a top 5 RW in the league in a sustainable, lasting situation.

Don't think this is as easy as some say it is because both guys are exceptional talents.. But I would take the guy who has already done it in Rantanen!!

This. Pedigree also comes into play. Rantanen was taken top 10 in one of the deepest drafts of all time. On any normal year, he probably goes top 3. So his 84 points last year was not some fluke. He was EXPECTED to be an excellent top line player.

in this case, their pedigree is similar so it basically is a non factor.

Pettersen's production needs to be tested over a few full seasons. A lot of these kids blow their gas tanks in the first 20 games and then fatigue begins to show and they go ICE COLD

Great Move..I'm a big canucks fan and I think Elias is going to be a superstar (Perhaps even better than Rantanen) BUT Rantanen has already hit a ppg, has a Pedigree as a top draft pick and plays with MacKinnon...easy trade for me
