Johnny Gaudreau
Claude Giroux
Gun to your head, who do you take?

12 Team Keep 5 (2 F, 1 D, 1 G, 1 Any) G,A,PTS,PPP,SOG,HITS,PIMS,W,GAA and Sv%.
F: Kucherov, K.Connor, J. Hughes,, J.Guentzel, A.Svechnikov,
D: Q. Hughes,
G:Bobrovsky
Giroux has a better supporting cast and has done it more times before, including last year. Don't get me wrong - I think the gap between them shrinks this year, but Giroux should still outpoint Gaudreau by 5-10.

Even without a gun to my head I take Gaudreau pretty easily here!

Fowards: G, A
Defense: G, A, short handed time (0,25 pt / 2 min)
Goalies: W 2 pt, OT lost 1pt, Shootout lost 1pt, shutout 1pt
F: Gaudreau, Matthews, Malkin, Eichel, Fiala, Zibanejad, Pavelski, Rust, Nelson, Suzuki, Eriksson Ek, Sharangovich
D: Karlsson, Josi, Heiskanen, Montour, Theodore, Ekholm
G: Sorokin, Bobrovsky

Farm: Snuggerud, Miroshnichenko, But, Brisson, Rosen
I'm taking Johnny Hockey here quite easily. Giroux is in for some major negative regression both in personal Sh% and On-ice Sh%. Giroux's point totals over the last 3 seasons were 102, 58, and 67 points. He is also 30 years old and on the downswing of his career. Gaudreau's last 3 seasons he has accumulated 84, 61, and 78 points. He is also still firmly in his prime at 25 years old, and should have much improved linemates this season with the additions of James Neal and Elias Lindholm. Definitely a major step up from Michael Ferland.
90 points from Gaudreau would not surprise me in the slightest, whereas I would be shocked if Giroux came close to that in 2018-19. Johnny Hockey just has far more upside at this point in their respective careers.

Johnny Hockey for me, like mounD mentioned, Neal/Lindholm over Ferland will put Gaudreau in 90 point territory.

splitting hairs this season on this one. even if Giroux regresses to 90, Hockey's not pushing much past it... Personally, I've given up on Giroux in various pools spanning the past 4 years. Last year was like a kick in the nuts after suffering disappointment after disappointment. Screw him, I take Gaudreau (although Giroux has nicer hair - back to initial hair reference if you got lost)

I'm taking Giroux and the high upside while accepting his downside is probably much worse.
Gaudreau seems destined for 78-85

Aside from my projections, I have been ranking forwards (by tiers) and now have Giroux in my top 10 for forwards. I believe I had been underrating Giroux and what he is capable of producing this upcoming season. As others have stated, Giroux has shown the ability of producing 100 pts in a season while Gaudreau has not. A bit nit picky but I love diving deeper into the players . I like the idea of Tiers ... lets you know when there is a cliff drop ect. The pt projection on the side is more of a rough pt projection. When I'm doing my life drafts I don't really need G,A,PIM,Shots, ect ... makes it look more neat.
