I agree with Pete. Need more info to really be able to assess. I would tend to keep Hossa over most anybody myself.

Just based on age, I\'d go for it. Getzlaf is a stud.

    You\'re in a keeper league.

    If you have positional requirements
RW has about four or five guys that are in an elite group in the NHL. Hossa is clearly in that group. Despite the age difference there isn\'t a chance I\'d give up Hossa for Getzlaf. Calling Hossa the 5th best RW in the league, you would be trading him for the 15th best centre in the league. I wouldn\'t trade him for Joe Thornton, Vinny Lecavalier or Pavel Datsyuk either. (I\'m sure some disagree)

If you do not have positional requirements. I would entertain the trade. If I had Hossa I\'d clearly be asking for something to be thrown in. I might get laughed at, but that\'s all right. I could always downgrade to a 1-for-1 offer. It\'s important that you believe that Getzlaf is going to be awesome for a very long time and that you think he\'s going to start producing in that 90-100 point window. If you think that\'s a bit high, then have fun driving Hossa instead for the next five years. Age comparison between these two isn\'t all it\'s cracked up to be. If you believe Hossa is prime material for the next five years, the comparison is essentially irrelevant.

    Well said as usual, JHM.

The only think I would add is that you should only entertain this idea IF PIM is counted in your league. That is one statistical category that Getzlaf has a clear advantage in.

That said, if your league has positional requirements I would forget the trade and keep Hossa regardless.
    15 GM Keeper League w/Roto Scoring (G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, HITS | W, GAA, SV%, SHO)

    C - Crosby*, Malkin* (C/R), Tavares*, Giroux* (C/R)
    L - Duchene* (C/L),
    Marleau* (C/L), Galchenyuk (C/L), Ott (C/L), Lee (C/L)
R - Kane* (C/R), St. Louis, Neil, Clutterbuck
D - Yandle*, Carlson*, Gardiner, Gudas, Daley, Bieksa, Schenn
    G - Lundqvist*, Rinne, Kuemper

    bingo.

my league has PIMs giving negative points, and C/RW/LW. I had to trade Getzlaf AND Enstrom to get Hossa, and i\'m quite satisfied with the deal 8 months later.
