I think he def has PP1 potential with the oil. I like him to break into the 30s even without it int he next couple years. He's going to keep getting better and this is a good signing for the oilers.
I expect him to get an audition on PP1 and run with it. By next season he'll outpoint Klefbom - mark it down.

I really like Nurse, a lot, but I don't ever see him running a top PP unit. He just doesn't have the offensive instincts, imo. He is a great skater, can be nasty to play against, and is positionally-sound, and getting better all the time. I see him at best becoming a Brent Seabrook type of player. He can step in on the PP unit in a pinch, but he isn't really the type of player you want on your PP unit long-term.
I don't necessarily mean that as a criticism of Nurse. That's just not his game, and truthfully as much as the Oilers need someone to run the PP unit, I think they need what Nurse can become (a solid, nasty, shutdown dman) just as badly.

I'm guessing Chiarelli didn't negotiate this deal.

Nurse has played 3 seasons in the NHL. 2 for Morrissey. Theodore is a nice offensive guy but his track record is much shorter and his defensive game isn't nearly as good. He should get less. He may get more but I wouldn't give him a nickle more than what Morrissey got.
I will take that bet.
Nurse has neither the vision nor the offensive acumen to play on the PP. He's also not a very good passer. He can skate the puck out of the d zone better than 90% of the dmen in the league but zone entry is not a concern for the Oilers on the PP. I would think that Nurse is the 4th option on the PP if Bouchard does not make the team. Nurse would be the 5th best option if Bouchard stays in Edmonton this year.
Is Nurse even that good? I don't feel he deserves more than Morrisey..

Nurse took a major step forward last season and is starting to look like the horse they drafted. I don't expect him to be a big offensive guy, maybe 30-35pts most seasons, but he will be one of those guys who will be called on in the important times of the games for years. I don't think we can really define how good he will be yet but if he can progress on what we saw last season, the Oilers have a really solid Dman for years there.
