Hello everyone! Another season is upon us and it's that time of year where we re-tool our teams and project each players future. I worked 40+ hours on this projection list. I took the time this year to go team by team and used some projected lines to help assemble this list so I don't miss any player. I did not project any goalies as of right now. For my upcoming drafts I will be using Dobbers list for goalies. I will be updating this if there are any trades or injuries of note.

    Enjoy

This is awesome, dude ... you're sleeping on Barzal though. If Perry ends up anywhere close to what you predict, I'll take the trade-off.

I really like Matty as a player but find it hard to believe he will match last years totals. It's entirely possibly of course but with (3) 5 pt games + playing against easier match-ups due to Tavares centering the top line last year leads me to believe there will be a correction in order for Mr. Barzal. 1st line = harder matchups. He is a play-maker first and there are only so many assists that can go around. The projected line he is on by some is with Beauvillier + Eberle. If he does get matched with Lee for most of the season I can see him hitting 80.

Yeah, I'm thinking they will stick with Beau/Barzal/Eberle, and try to keep Lee/Bailey together with either Kovar or Nelson, whichever ends up working out. That could hurt Barzal's totals a bit, but I read earlier in the summer that he's working a bunch on his shot and shooting the puck more for this season. That should help shore up some of the deficiencies in SOG/Goals and boost overall totals. But here's the thing with Barzal ... last year he was facing a lot of top competition. In fact, toward the end of the season he was facing more D1 pairs against at 5v5 than Tavares -- and posting really favorable shot shares / goal results.

It's interesting the narrative that Tavares was somehow sheltering Barzal is inaccurate, as far as the numbers show as the 17-18 season developed. Of course, things are going to be more difficult for Barzal, given that he's going to be THE man, playing more minutes, taking more crucial draws, tasked with more minutes / more important minutes all around. But maybe I'm the outlier in expecting that he can not only replicate his totals, but improve on them. He's the first cat since Malkin to pop 85 as a rookie, so he could be in for some special seasons.

Yep. It's hardly definitive proof of anything, other than Barzal thrived over the last 35 games or so against top competition. He's going to have to expand that success to a full season with much added pressure, but I think the talent and opportunity are there with him. I also just love the way he plays the game, it's electric. I'm definitely biased and pulling for him all the way lol.

I slept on Barzal big time last year. I was doing a $50 1 year league with 25 managers, it was late into the draft and I was deciding between Barzal and Labanc ... ALMOST opened my mouth to say Barzal then I stopped myself and said Labanc. I came 2nd place and only 10 or so pts behind first. Needless to say I would have won if I just picked him

Barzal went unpicked that draft and there were 8 forwards picked for every team lol.

Dang man, that's rough. I don't think many people were really expecting Barzal to be so good so soon. Sure, a lot of us were high on him since his draft year (and before), but what he did last season was just special. And when you watch him play it's just so obvious that he's going to be a mega star. The things he does with the puck, his skating ability and vision are just off the charts. And he will have scorers like Wahlstrom and Lee, perhaps Eberle around for his prime years. It should be very, very fun to watch.
