Default Giroux at $9M vs Pavelski at $6M?

1 year only, neither will be a keeper the following year as my salaries are going through the roof

Last year in our format Giroux=290 pool points vs Pavelski =185. Multi - cat no hits or blocks or fow

Does Giroux regress and they are within 50 points?

Even if Giroux is 50 points> Pavelski I think its worth the extra 3m.

So who ya like? Giroux or Pavelski +3m for next year?

    thanks

I would take Pavelski. I expect about 60pts from him, 75-80 for Giroux, but Pave scores more goals. So in your setup the 3M isn't balanced out for Giroux.

I'd also go with Pavelski. Giroux has a ticket on the regression train. I think Pavelski has another year of the same coming up.

I think I would take Pavelski too. I really can't see Giroux repeating last season. At the very least it'll be closer.

Last season, they had equal value in your settings. Pavelski provided 30.8 points/m while Giroux provided 32.2 points/m.

If Giroux regresses even a fraction of what is predicted, Pavelski is the easy winner.

I'm not as afraid of a major Giroux regressions, but that's a big enough salary gap for me to say Pavs - who I agree should rebound - is the choice. After all, Pavs was at a 70+ point pace if you ignore the first 15 or so games from last season.

This is a great point. With them providing similar league points/m last year in your settings, either a Giroux regression OR a Pavelski rebound would break the tie. If you're going to gamble, go with the option that will succeed if either of two things happen over the option that will be equal only if neither of them do.

Courturier reportedly reinjured his MCL, which makes the Giroux regression predictions even more drastic. Pavelski for sure
