Draft with me. Dynasty inaugural draft.

So, I just started a new points-only dynasty league where each of the 14 GM have to select 12F-6D-2G during a 20 round draft. Only the best 9F-4D-1G will count at the end of the season (same rules that the league in sig). I tought I could start a thread for every round and get your input when it will be my turn to draft. So i pick at 9, I will update when new picks will be made and post a comment when it will be my turn:

Eichel

For longevity I would aim for a guy like Gaudreau or Eichel ... maybe more so Eichel in this spot but either one of them players will be a very good asset in the upcoming season nonetheless. So many good forwards for the taking ... Kuznetsov and Pastrnak but I would take Mr. Eichel before either one of them.

in these order:

Eichel or Seguin

Crosby
Gaudreau

I am targeting Seguin here.

Gaudreau and Eichel are the other two options for me. But the consitency of my first round pick is why I choose Seguin over the other two. He has consitently scored between 72 and 80 points in the last 5 years.

Eichel scores at almost a point per game pace... but he has been injured and missed 20 games for two straight years. This is a league where there is not replacing a player if he gets injured. So if you are risky, you can take him and hope he scores 80 points and know he might only score 60 and miss 20 games.

Gaudreau - he has been inconsistent. 60-80-60-80 ... with that pattern it could mean we see another 60 point season.

So the consistent floor of Seguin of 72 points is worth it to me in comparison of the risky ceiling of 80 points of the other two. And Seguin is still 26 and I am all in on him breaking 100 points this year, with a new coach that will let him run free (I hope).

Gaudreau is only 1 year younger, but yes, you do give up age to Eichel at 21... but I am a fan of Seguin.

I?d consider Seguin, Crosby, Hedman or Karlsson.

Drafting a D-man this early isn?t ideal but it?ll put you ahead of the first D-man run and you?ll have an elite player as well.

I'd take Karlsson. Maybe you start a D run and it gets you a good fwd for your next pick. Hard to let go of the best D in points only league. You get a 60-80pts D instead of a 70-80 fwd.

Yeah,not enough difference between the next 8-9 available forwards to pass on Karlsson. He's my pick

Fun post! I used to draft a single year points only pool like this every year [same number of teams]. After years of staring at the numbers about what made a team good, I found a correlation between:

A) Teams drafting safe veteran picks in rounds 7-9 usually did well.
B) Teams that reached for rookies too early often failed.
C) Teams that drafted assist heavy centres did well.
D) Teams that had 2 good-great D always had an advantage.

I liked your Karlsson pick. That was about the right time to grab him.
