    Default Sell high on Tavares?

Lots of interest for Tavares in my league (pts only)... Is it the time to sell high on him?

Against which player (1 vs 1) are you willing to trade Tavares?

    Thank you in advance

Never hurts to put him out there and shop him to see what you can get. He's definitely a sell-high right now.

For sure his value is super high right now. There aren't a ton of guys I'd trade him for though, elite players on good teams are always nice to have. You'd have to be offered a top 10 player at the least, with likely a nice plus. Personally I'm not moving him unless it's a real slam dunk.

If there was ever a guy to dangle in front of homers for an overpayment it's Tavares. Even the most patient of Leafs fans could be tempted to blow the bank on him. Every Tavares owner should at least be listening to offers right now (unless you're one of the Leaf fans lol)

I believe that he is going to live up to his top-10 price tag in the next maybe 1-2 yrs but this story is setup for him to slowly fade as Matthews continues to shine brighter and brighter.

In a keeper setup I'd say this is a good time to pull the trigger if you wanted to sell high. Assuming you mean for the league in your signature though (8-teams, keep 8, points only) I really don't know who to suggest to trade for. No one is going to give you McDavid for him and others in that same range are like splitting hairs. The shallow league means that quality will always be available at the draft table as well, and keep 8 is just deep enough so that even trading for 1st round picks isn't THAT valuable.

The only type of trade I can think that may work is if you downgrade Tavares slightly to a lesser forward to gain a significant upgrade at another position. But again, is upgrading from Josi to say Ghost really going to be worth the trade?

Its always hard to sell high when you are dealing with the best players in a shallow league/partial keeper.

As a massive leafs fan, I would definitely sell high. He averages a point a game (had some down seasons before last year) so to think he jumps to 100+ is crazy. Yes, he's playing with far better linemates, however he also must share precious PP time now that there are alternatives in the lineup (unlike in Long Island). Since you are points only, a jump in +/- does nothing for you either.

I would sell high now; you will never get a better package for him.

I expect his numbers to stay the same as in Long Island, which is still damn good but not what people are projecting (pretty unrealistic IMO).

just be careful, often people say they will sell player X high and they end up getting less than regular value. Go for quality other then quantity. Post the actual trade here before accepting

I'm working on something with another GM. Do you make one of Hall/Rantanen/Stamkos + Hedman for Tavares + Josi?

I don?t really think this is a sell high ? you get Hedman which is an improvement over Josi but Hall/Rantanen/Stamkos is a significant downgrade over Tavares imo...

You?d be lucky to end up equal to +/- 5% production overall on this trade. I?d be asking for a sweetener in that deal for sure - either a pick or prospect.

Trades like this one are hard to pull off and be the winner at - I?d probably stay put unless I was an obvious winner - Tavares? upside is really high - there?s no reason to sell off the hottest name on the trade market for questionable value - and I admit, that value is difficult to determine

If you can sell him as a 90-point player, and I believe there is the perception that he would be that kinda player in Toronto, then do it. I think he'll be in the 75-80 points most years.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

I would try for Hall/Stamkos + Hedman for Tavares + someone lesser than Josi, like Yandle or Muzzin.

You're probably right about the 5%... Like you said, his value is very difficult to determine.

    I probably hold on him

YES!!!! I've said it here until I'm blue in the face that the Toronto system is one where ice time is spread very evenly so whereas many have Tavares pegged for 90+ points I think he could struggle to get even 80.
