Too early, but not by much. Risk/reward picks in that round range aren't a bad idea. If Karlsson departs and somehow Sergachev doesn't come to Ottawa, you just won the PP1 lottery, and even on a bad team like Ottawa that will be gold.

Tough call, he is an obvious talent but usage is up in the air and is contingent on Karlsson situation getting sorted. Curious to know what other dmen were available around that time? Did you reach based on other options? Maybe.

Vatanen stands out if you wanted to "reach" at the pick. Otherwise, I'd have probably gone for the surefire 40+ points and taken Leddy, or even Green/Fowler/Schmidt. All boring, but solid picks.

Thanks for your guys responses. I was upset, a couple picks before I got Boeser, a guy got Matt Murray. I would have had Hellebuyck + Murray as a goalie tandem in a 16 team league. Having Boeser doesn't hurt I suppose. Just wish I got a better goalie other than Varlamov but he should put up a decent season since Colorado is looking not TOO bad right now.

In the prospect draft I have the 4th overall pick. Assuming Dahlin goes #1, Pettersson - Mittelstadt - Svechnikov will all be available. Prospect draft is for anyone under 40 some games.
