    Default Rask or Allen

    Hi all,

So I have to choose between Rask and Allen.

Head to head league, salary cap, 14 teams total

I know Allen had a rouht season last year, but will he bounce back?
    Allen as a 4.35$ and Rask 7$.

    What do you think?

I'd gladly pay the extra 2.65 for Rask. Much more secure. I don't trust Allen, despite his supposed potential as a pretty good starter. He has to prove it over the course of a season.

Rask, even if he were 8m. One's a bonafide top starting G.. the other, hanging on by a thread! There's no real security net behind Allen this year if he tanks like he did the past two (Unless they call up Husso).

    Pay Rask. save elsewhere

Definitely Rask, despite the cap savings and the fact that the Blues are on the rise. You gotta pay up for quality, and look to save the dollars elsewhere.

    It's always difficult picking goalies....

Rask would be the safer bet, just think of the difference in price being the insurance of a higher chance of doing well.

That being said I think Allen bounces back, but if they both were to play at their top level I'd still rather Rask.

Spend the money and keep Rask. I don't think Allen is as bad as some my feel but the smart money for consistency is Rask for me.

I'm not going to trust Allen until he gives me a reason to do so, and so far he hasn't, making me wonder if he ever will. Rask is my choice.

I?d also pay the extra cap hit for Rask although I?m expecting a bounce back year for Allen. He was terrible last year and has shown he?s capable of much more in the past, plus STL as a whole have vastly improved.

seems like an odd thing to take under consideration but personally it really bugs me that Boston takes forever to announce the official starter of the game .With a capable backup like Halak in the mix things might get even more cloudy on game days . Is it because Boston doesnt have a goalie nerd reporter tweeting who the first goalie off the ice was at the morning skate , idk .

if cap space is an issue I might like that extra space Allen provides . Can you get something of value for Rask ?

You should be able to move Rask easily if you wanted. I would say most fantasy owners see him as a top 10 goalie, cap considerations aside. but I always advise against moving goalies unless you have too many or you know you can get one back in the trade.

I know this isn't much help right now, but with a goalie like Rask you will know if he's starting at 630pm most nights. Most goalies will start at the same time or later than him. If you can't get online around then...you might want to look at a #2 who gets announced earlier in the day OR is a West coast goalie.

I consider Allen a serious risk in cap leagues. He can easily kill your team's chances. Last thing you need is $4M in dead money when he's either stinking the joint or away from the team on another one of his "finding myself" journeys.

For now, i have an offer for Allen for a 3rd round pick. I didnt thougt about halak that will probably steel a few stars this season. As for Allen, Hutton is gone, Allen is the clear #1...
