Default Machado to the Dodgers officially a deal

This will only be a rental situation but still a good one for the Dodgers. Seagar is out for the rest of the season and Machada has openly said he is now a SS, and isn't interested in playing any other position so he wont be going back to the Dodgers next year.

    https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal?re...Ctwgr%5Eauthor

Can report with more certainty: Machado to #Dodgers happening. Among remaining questions, in addition to specifics of return beyond OF Yusniel Diaz: How much money, if any, #Orioles will send #Dodgers to secure a better package and help ease LAD?s luxury-tax concerns.
    https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal?re...Ctwgr%5Eauthor

Barring last-minute change, #Orioles? return for Machado will include only prospects, no #Dodgers major leaguers, sources tell The Athletic

And the Dodgers keep their top 3 prospects (highlight seems to be their No4 prospect).

solid deal both sides. I am happy he didn't go to the Yankees. Yankees giving up prospects to an ALEast team was the last thing I wanted.

He didn't go to the Yankees this year, but nothing says he wont sign there next year.

And yes, it looks like they are giving up one of their better prospects to bring him in as a rental, but not a top 3. I am not sure that matters a lot because the difference between them could be minor. Looking forward to seeing the whole deal and if Diaz is the best of the prospects they are getting.

Yes, he could sign. But now hopefully the Yankees use the prospects they'd use in the Manny Machado trade to get pitching (Happ, DeGroom). Which all are out of the AL East or the team I root for.

This yr and the next 3yrs aren't the yrs the Jays are looking to win, so if a rival deals away prospects out of the division, I'm more than happy with that this yr.

True, but I don't expect the Yanks to give up top prospects for Happ anyway.

I don't either, but any prospects off a team is a bonus down the road.

Honestly, this angle of trading in a division (for any sport) should be thought of way more. If I trade you Hoffman for prospects, I hurt your future and help mine all in one move. But alas, GMs aren't around long enough on losing teams to even try and sell this thought to owners/fans.

    Done deal.

    https://twitter.com/McCulloughTimes/...23392767971329

So it'll be Machado for Diaz, Kramer, Bannon, Pop and Valera.

As @AdamKilgoreWP said yesterday: "Hey, uh, how about the Dodgers lineup with Manny F---ing Machado?"
    https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/st...22546097385474

Diaz was #Dodgers’ No. 4 prospect, according to @MLBPipeline. Bannon, a third baseman, was No. 27. Kremer, a right-handed pitcher, was No. 28. Pop is a right-hander in High A. Valera is a 26-year-old 2B who has seen time in majors this season.

Their bullpen still need a couple pieces, but this trade certainly improves their offense.

If they still play Machado at SS, they might have made their defense worse. He's honestly a bad SS, but an insane 3B.

It's funny how this guys see the move from SS to 3rd in their careers as a demotion.. Machado is an insanly talented 3rd baseman!!
